Vape products and e-cigarettes are more popular than ever before, but how do we dispose of them?
Even the most typical disposable vape contains plastic, batteries and electronic components, as well as nicotine. If disposed of irresponsibly, they won't just avoid breaking down; vapes have the potential to present a hazardous threat to the environment. Polluting groundwater, hurting wildlife, creating fire hazards; these are just a few of the threats these products have the potential to introduce.
Thanks to the Missouri Product Stewardship Council, with support from District O, residents of southwest Missouri will now have easy access to safe disposal of vape products.
The MPSC has partnered with several vape shops in the area to establish a collection pilot program, places where anyone can bring used products including pods, cartridges, containers and more, for disposal. The program is planned to run for six months, with plans underway to bring more permanent solutions to the Ozarks.
